Women compete in scrimmage for first time this season
The women traveled to Denton, TX for a scrimmage against University of North Texas. The scrimmage allowed the team to get familiar with the game and field for the first time this season. The final score of 14-2 was not indicative of the hard effort and play of the women on the field. There was plenty of upside to take away from this game and the learning curve was steep. However, the team walked away with a valuable learning experience and plenty of areas to focus on!
Spring is here and the women travel back to Denton!
As we transitioned from Fall Ball to the actual Spring season, HSU Women Lax traveled back to Denton, TX to scrimmage UNT once again to see where we stand. The team played well and improved dramatically from the game in November but still fell short 17-6. Size of team and lack of substitutions contributed heavily to falling behind after halftime.
HSU Men's Lax make history with their first official game ever!
HSU Men's Lax traveled to Lubbock to challenge Texas Tech University in their first game ever. No easy task playing out of division against a seasoned team. Tech built an early 2-0 lead when Trent Duininck scored with a gem rolling left to right to cut the lead in half. Unfortunately, TTU began to pressure our middies on every transition down the field leaving our middies exhausted by half time. With no subs to utilize, HSU ended up with a humbling 24-1 defeat. However, with our first game under out belt, we were ready for LSA Central Division competition!
HSU Men's lax make more history hosting our first home game!
University of Texas at Dallas traveled to the Key City to take on both Abilene Christian University and Hardin-Simmons in a two game in one day challenge. Coming in ranked nationally at #21, UTD showcased why they earned their ranking as HSU played valiantly against a much stronger team. Challenges with transition to get scoring opportunities was present all day but defense and goal tending stood out as positives from the game!
HSU Women back on the field for a two game homestand
Texas Tech University and Tarleton State University traveled to the Key City on a cold, bitter day to challenge HSU in a TWLL D2 contest! HSU came strong out of the gate against Tech but could not keep pace with Texas Tech's offensive output losing 12-3. In the second contest, a rested squad battled hard to the end but wound up on the short end of a strong defensive battle 7-5.
